FREEflow Bermuda Version: 1.0 Date: 14-SEPT-05 http://fs-freeflow.com This file is freeware with limitations on distribution. If you paid for this archive, or obtained this archive from a source other than FS-FREEflow.com, AVSIM.com, FlightSim.com, or FSGenesis.net please notify the authors. See EULA for details. DESCRIPTION: ------------ FREEflow Bermuda is a FREE scenery addon for Microsoft Flight Simulator: ACOF which will transform the Islands of Bermuda. Features include: * Land class scenery which accurately reflects vegetation and population of the Islands of Bermuda. * Water class scenery which properly reflects vibrant tropical reefs of Bermuda. * Completely new ocean coasts, bays, and ponds accurately placed using Landsat imagery. * All new detailed Bermuda International Airport (TXKF). * Accurately placed, custom GMax models for many landmarks in Bermuda, including both lighthouses and many historic buildings. * All major roads, highways and bridges. * AI surface traffic including a custom designed ferry system with accurate scheduling, and many others. * A configuration utility to tailor this scenery to your system and personal preferences. REQUIREMENTS: ------------- Gerrish Grey's Trees library v3: http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2002scen&DLID=19575 While this library says it's for FS2002, it works perfectly in FS2004. Unzip the textures into your main FS9\Texture folder, and the scenery.zip containing trees_0.bgl into your FS9\Scenery\World\Scenery folder (or some suggest FS9\Scenery\BASE\Scenery). However, it is important that you have a single copy of this library installed - please do a search of your FS9 folders for trees_0.bgl and make sure only a single copy is present in either of the two directories described above. To see all the static ships you will also need: "Another Ship library for FS2004" by Markus Paul, Jorge Pagano, Bob Langendorfer: http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004sd&DLID=60698 -------------- Also: While not explicitly required, you'll enjoy this scenery much more with the following addons: * Replacement water textures: The water class included in this package was not designed with the default water textures, thus one of these replacement texture sets should be installed for the water to look it's best: ---OceanFX 2.0 by Johan de Vries ( http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004util&DLID=34456 ) is a front end to install Ed Truthan's water effects and textures in FS2004 ( http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=&Name=environmental&FileName=&Author=ed+truthan&CatID=root ). These textures are second to none, and highly recommended. ---Several packages are derived from these textures which you might find more appealing, and include "morewatr.zip" ( http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=43631 ) by various authors compiled by Kevin Rangel or "Water Zone" textures which are slightly darker ( http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004scen&DLID=42746 ) * Enhanced water reflection effects - these are a different thing than the textures above! There are many, but the hands-down best is Vilk's Water or "vater.zip" available at our website courtesy of the author: http://fs-freeflow.com/index.php?ind=downloads&op=entry_view&iden=13 AUTOMATIC INSTALLATION: (Recommended method) ----------------------- 1.) Execute the installer, being certain to install to your main flight simulator folder. It is highly recommended that you allow the installer to backup and inactivate the default FS9 scenery for bermuda. 2.) Consult the file FFBM-SceneryLibraryHowTo.html for instructions on activating the scenery in FS9. MANUAL INSTALLATION: (advanced users only!) -------------------- 1.) Execute the installer, but install it to a temporary folder (I suggest something like "FFBMtemp" on your desktop). 2.) When choosing install options, you may optionally choose to install the AI ships, however the automatic backup and inactivation of the default FS9 scenery must be accomplished manually. 3.) After installation, you will be prompted to select your preferences. These options may need to be changed manually after you move the files to FS depending on where you install to. 4.) Several folders will be created in your temporary folder: [Temporary Folder] |-->Addon Scenery | |-->Default scenery for FFBM | | |-->Scenery | | | |-->FREEflow Bermuda | | |-->bin | | |-->FREEflow Bermuda Documentation | | |-->Scenery | | |-->Texture | | | |-->FREEflow Bermuda Class and Mesh | | |-->Scenery | | | |-->Scenery | |-->Aircraft (Optional) | |-->(Five subfolders) | |-->Effects |-->Texture 5.) Move or copy all of these to your Main FS9 folder (required for scenery configuration application to function fully), or a folder of your choice. 6.) The start menu link to the FREEflow Bermuda Scenery Configuration Utility will not work after moving the file. Simply double click the application to set options. If you do not install to your main FS9 folder, the utility will not properly configure the AI ships, though other options will function. 7.) Simply delete the folder and start menu items, or run the uninstaller. It is highly recommended that you use the Scenery Configuration application to configure options. However, to accomplish this manually: Optional files are contained in the FREEflow Bermuda\bin folder. These are the files for each set of options: +----------+------------------------+----------------------+ | OPTION | LESS DETAIL | MORE DETAIL | +----------+------------------------+----------------------+ | Light- |FFBM_StandardLHBeams.xxx|FFBM_LHBeam1_Dusk.xxx | | house | |FFBM_LHBeam1_Night.xxx| | beams | |FFBM_LHBeam2_Dusk.xxx | | | |FFBM_LHBeam2_Night.xxx| +----------+------------------------+----------------------+ | Airport | TXKFlite.xxx | TXKF.xxx | +----------+------------------------+----------------------+ | Urban | none | HAMILTON.xxx | | details | none | StG.xxx | +----------+------------------------+----------------------+ | Static | none | StaticCruise.xxx | | Ships | none | StaticCargo.xxx | | | none | StaticFerries.xxx | | | none | StaticScow.xxx | | | none | StaticTallship.xxx | +----------+------------------------+----------------------+ To manually set options, *COPY* the .xxx file from the FREEflow Bermuda\bin directory to the FREEflow Bermuda\Scenery folder. Rename the file by changing the .xxx extension to .bgl. Be certain to delete the bgls for the options you wish to inactivate! Having both the low- and high- detail bgls active at the same time will lead to very poor performance. Additionally, the static ships occupy the parking spots for the animated AI ships. Having both the AI and the static ships active at the same time will lead to poor performance and superimposed ship models. If you have inactivated the static ships, you can activate the animated AI ships by copying Traffic_FFBM_Ships.xxx to your [FS9]\Scenery\World\Scenery folder and renaming it with a bgl extension. You can mix static and animated AI ships by activating the traffic bgl, but for each static bgl that you activate, turn off that animated AI ship by renaming the aircraft.cfg to aircraft.xxx. SCENERY INACTIVATION/ACTIVATION: -------------------------------- 1.) In order to inactivate the default scenery, several files need to be relocated. ***Use ONE of these methods to accomplish the relocation: -----> A.) The installer has an option to automatically move these files for you. ****highly recommended**** or B.) If you prefer to do it completely manually: The following files need to be MOVED to the "Default scenery for FFBM\Scenery" folder (Be careful not to COPY them - they must be moved): Move the following from [FS9]\Scenery\NAME\Scenery AB930200.bgl FL930200.bgl HL930200.bgl HP930200.bgl RD930200.bgl 2.) Start FS9 and use the scenery library manager to add new areas for all of these folders. See the file "FFBM-SceneryLibraryHowTo.html" for more detailed instructions. Be sure a check mark is present in the "Active" box for both the "FREEflow Bermuda" and the "FREEflow Bermuda Class and Mesh" folders, but *ABSENT* for the "Default scenery for FFBM" folder. This method makes it simple to toggle between our scenery and the default scenery, simply by activating or inactivating the appropriate scenery areas. ***You must then restart FS9 to see the changes*** COMPATIBILITY: -------------- No known conflicts.
